Cold Air Intake System
Valve Cover Removed
Looking towards passenger side; only one pipe visible (the other is below it); Pierce intake manifold is coming out of head and attached to the two Weber DCOE 45 carbs on the right side (air rams covered by UNI foam filters); wiring relocated upwards as in older MGB’s to accommodate the air box; note the non-standard chrome billet oil dipstick near the carb return spring (this had to be modified and necessary to be able to get a dipstick into the crowded area down below the manifold); chrome oil filler cap & several other items lying on manifold

Cold Air Intake & Exhaust Cooling
Valve cover and cold air intake box removed; one of two 2 ½ inch air intake pipes visible at front; L-shaped rocker oiler barely visible over copper-colored roller rockers; Weber DCOE 45 carbs facing passenger side with UNI foam filters; Tee’ed Triumph TR6 heater control at back of head; round chrome item laying behind thermostat cover is the valve cover oil filler cap; steel rod laying in intake manifold is for stiffening he engine-to-charcoal-canister braided line running along top of engine; piece of cut radiator hose laying on heater box is used to cover some wiring to protect from vibration when air box is mounted; chromed exhaust cooler box on driver’s side of engine

Cold Air Intake System
TWO Intake Pipes Visible, Cooler Box Removed, UNI Foam Filters
Chromed box (removed) fits over UNI foam filters, hooking to two 2 ½” pipes at right and to red plate between carbs and air rams (covered with UNI filters); box has excess air flap; valve cover removed showing part of oil cooler supply line; braided line right behind red plate is the fuel supply line; rod laying on intake manifold is used elsewhere

Top View of Dual Conical Filters
This view is looking straight down while standing in front of the right front wheel towards the barely visible conical filters; two 2.5" pipes (one has red elbow; the other has elbow removed) go into the cold air box (one into the side, the other into the bottom);note the oil filter between the radiator (top left) and the radiator overflow container (top right)

Front View of Dual Conical Filters
Red metal piece is heat shield from radiator (black item in foreground); this shield is separated from the radiator by a 2” gap & back-sloped; pipes go from bottom of conical filters down through 2 1/2” holes in the metal bottom plate, then drop down about 6” below radiator and terminate in forward-facing air scoops

Exhaust Cooling System – Side View
Chrome exhaust cooling box & heat shield; cooling intake ram pipe in left front foreground; stainless line going from engine front to back is engine vapor line connecting to charcoal canisters; black item in right foreground is conventional horn, silver “can” behind it is a the air compressor for trumpet horns; note the highly-custom (and jury-rigged) mounting for the red-topped racing fuel filter

Exhaust Cooling System – Front View
Pipe feeds cool air from underneath the car to the chromed cover over the top of the exhaust header (the box is open on the underside and serves as a heat shield on the top and both sides; it runs from about four inches in front of the header to about 3" behind it and sits about 3" above; the engine vapor line at upper left runs alongside valve cover – held straight by a rod when clamped; the red-topped canister at right center is the racing fuel filter with the fuel line looping over the front of the engine to the carburetors

Better View of Wrapped Headers
The theory is that a lower temperature in the engine comparment allows the engine to perform more optimally and that keeping the gases hot until they get below the car results in faster evacuation from the exhaust system with subsequent additional performance enhancements; the "fabric" is very heavy 1/4" thick by 2" wide belt about 33 feet per header pipe; the tee’ed line with chrome fitting at lower left (below red with chrome screws racing fuel filter) is radiator-to-heater supply; red item in right foreground with chrome cap is brake fluid container
